2020 Tax Appeal: Currumbin Wildlife Hospital

As you are aware the Currumbin Wildlife Hospital has seen a significant increase in animals coming through the hospital over the past year affected by the previous drought conditions or related to the recent tragic bushfires. Here are some facts you may not have known:

• 2019 was the busiest year on record at Currumbin Wildlife Hospital.  Our total admissions for 2019 were 12,198, compared to 11,082 the previous year.  This hospital is one of the busiest wildlife hospitals in the world.  There has been over 125,000 admissions in the hospital over the last 20 years.
• We have two Wildlife Ambulances that assist in rescuing and releasing those sick and injured animals. Our ambulances rescued over 1,500 animals, delivered over 500 animals back to the wild in their home range or to a foster carer and travelled over 70,000km!
• There has been a 20% increase of admissions due to the severe drought and bushfire conditions and sadly, we anticipate that this will continue to rise over the coming months.
•  In addition to our mission to Treat, Rehabilitate and Release Australian native wildlife our team is also leading the way in research in a number of areas.  Our hospital has been saving wildlife for 31 years and we need community support to continue our work for many years in the future.
