Cooly Rocked On with Record Crowds

Celebrating cars and culture from the 50’s, 60’s and 70’s, Cooly Rocks On, June 5 to 9, took over the streets of Coolangatta with record crowds estimated at over 120,000 attending the retro festival over the five days.

This year, Cooly featured an incredible entertainment line-up of Rock’n Roll, Rockabilly and Swing mixed with a schedule of dancing and iconic retro activations.

More than 700 cars and bikes worth over $20 million were displayed underpinning the classic culture, and the Show 'N' Shine car spaces were completely sold out this year.

Cooly Rocks On is a signature event in Queensland and delivered all the favourite elements; Car Cruises, the Cooly Rocks On Street Parade, Poodles and Pugs Parade, Dance Workshops, Miss Cooly Rocks On and Miss Rockabilly pageants, Vintage Bake-Off the Harvest Moon Swing Ball, market stalls and food vendors as features of the 2019 program.

In 2018, Cooly Rocks On generated more than $6 million for the local economy with 110,000 attendees and this year, despite the intermittent weather conditions, crowds were significantly increased on last year.

The Cooly Rocks On team are also proud to announce the 2020 dates June 3 to 7, 2020.
