Currumbin Wildlife Sanctuary reopens iconic Sanctuary Cafe

While many businesses have closed their doors, Currumbin Wildlife Sanctuary has found an innovative way to keep their doors open and continue their support for flora and fauna.

The Sanctuary Café, located with street frontage on Tomewin Street, has now re-opened to the public and is encouraging locals to pop in and pick up a barista coffee, cold drink, ice-cream, or choose from three delicious hot meals. A welcomed change for locals who may be tired of their kitchen plunger or iso-microwave meal. They also have a fantastic selection of ready-made frozen meals for only $9.00 made by the Sanctuary's award winning chefs.

Sanctuary General Manager, Michael Kelly said 'opening the doors to our cafe was the first step in the gradual return to operations for the Sanctuary. Whilst the rest of the Sanctuary is closed inline with COVID-19 restrictions, it is great to see our community able to still pop in and enjoy the offerings of the Sanctuary Cafe'.

After 72 years of operating, the Sanctuary has had to adapt to ensure the health and safety of visitors and staff. This includes:

• Ensuring socially distanced entrance, exits and lines;

• Sanitizer available to public before and after their purchase; and

• Efficient preparation of anything ordered to minimize risk of transmission.

Michael mentioned that the Sanctuary's reopening plans are well advanced and will see the reopening of the Natures Gifts store from Monday, 11th of May 2020. 'We look forward to welcoming guests back to the Sanctuary and reopening our gates once it is safe to do so.'

The Sanctuary Cafe also has a range of reasonably priced giftware perfect for the upcoming Mothers Day.

You can support the sanctuary's efforts by visiting their Sanctuary Café any day between Monday to Friday 8am – 2pm (excluding public holidays)
