• Sarawak Avenue – expect nightly lane and/or shoulder closures from Sunday 23/5 to install safety barriers and linemarking.

Day works:

Restoration of shared Oceanway

Commencing 4 June, the City will restore approximately 60 to 80 linear meters of 3.5 meter Oceanway between 12 and 16 Darwalla Avenue that was demolished during the construction of a seawall (as approved under SARA 2012-20196). Works are due to be completed in August 2021.

Works will take place during standard daytime hours (between 6.30am and 5pm).

Construction details and impacts include:

- The pathway footprint will remain the same as the original, however, the height will be slightly raised and include different gradients from the original; the height adjustment is unavoidable due to the seawall construction.

- The gradient adjustments may or may not impact the existing timber stairs near 12 Darwalla Avenue, the City will ensure the stairs remain compliant post-construction.

- Site fences will be installed in the work area and alongside the sand dunes (see map below).

- The pathway will be closed at times during works; a detour will be in place for path users (see map below).

- Site access and material/plant delivery will be via Teemangum Street and Len Wort Park; partial lane closures to Teemangum Street may be required at times and traffic control/spotters will be on-site.

🚧Traffic Alert🚧 | Coolangatta

There will be a temporary half road closure with a detour of Rutledge Street (between Tweed Street and Stapylton Street) Coolangatta for remedial works to the adjacent slope.

The closure will be in place commencing this Friday 28 May to Friday 2 July (weather permitting).

Emergency and Local access will be maintained.
