COVID-Safe Industry Plan vs COVID CLEAN
There has been some confusion around the COVID-Safe Industry Plan and the COVID-CLEAN Practicing Business Program.

The Queensland Tourism and Accommodation Industry COVID Safe Plan, sets out the Queensland Government requirements for our sector to operate in Stage 2 and Stage 3 under the Roadmap to easing Queensland’s restrictions, approved by the Queensland Chief Health Officer.
The COVID Clean Practicing Business program is an additional, national, recommended program which provides you with a checklist for COVID-19 Business Cleaning Policy and Procedures. The checklist has been adjusted to reflect the Queensland government requirements. Once complete this program will allow you to use the COVID-CLEAN logo.
The Queensland Tourism and Accommodation Industry COVID Safe Plan is the approved industry plan and has been developed by QTIC with the support of the Department of Innovation and Tourism Industry Development (DITID) and in collaboration with industry stakeholders.
Operating within the provisions of the plan is mandatory for businesses who seek to increase patronage of their business past the numbers stated in the Qld Roadmap to Recovery and for businesses who choose to operate using the ‘approved options’ outlined in this plan.
The health management issues are complex for many businesses but the Plan will give operators guidance to return to business with increased confidence and in the knowledge that they can provide a COVID-safe work environment for staff and customers.
There are two documents available on our website, the plan and a word template for you to complete after reading the plan. You will need to have a copy of your COVID-safe plan available for WHSQ Inspectors or other Queensland Government officials if they ask for it.
You will need to display a Statement of Compliance once you have completed your plan.

COVID Clean is a checklist that will guide tourism businesses through the recommended steps to return to business. It is designed to be in compliance with Qld Health directives and the recommended Workplace Health & Safety and Infection control standards and has been specifically tailored for tourism businesses.
COVID Clean is a national program hosted by the Australian Tourism Industry Council (ATIC) in collaboration with its member state and territory organisations, including QTIC. The Queensland version has been tailored for state-specific requirements.
Completing COVID Clean will provide you with:
- A downloadable and editable plan and checklist for COVID19 Business Cleaning Policy and Procedures
- A downloadable and editable COVID19 Risk Register
- Use of the COVID Clean logo
The program is run through the Quality Tourism Framework platform. If you are not already registered you will need to create a QTF account via the Quality Tourism Australia registration page.
If you are already accredited through a QTF program, or if you have previously applied for the QLD Tourism Awards, you will have an existing account. Log in to your existing account to apply for COVID Clean or contact QTIC to gain access: accreditation@qtic.com.au
